Tree and shrub care services
Start with the problem you’ve actually got. We’ll tell you what’s causing it, what it takes to fix, and what month that has to happen in.
The right treatment, in the right season.
Most tree problems have a window. Dormant oil only works while the tree is dormant. A fireblight spray has to land during bloom. Miss the window and you’ve paid for a treatment that couldn’t have worked. That’s the difference between a program and a schedule, and it’s the reason we look at the tree before we quote.

Tree & Shrub Pest Control
Insects damage a plant in three ways — chewing, sucking and boring — and the treatment for one is useless against the other two. We identify the insect first, then pick the way in.
- Aphids, scale and the honeydew that follows
- Spider mites and root weevils
- Bark beetles and borers
- Dormant oil, soil systemics and trunk injection
- Bark banding where drift is a concern
Tree & Shrub Disease
Most of what infects a plant here arrives in a cool, wet spring and doesn’t show until July. Treatment is timed to the disease, which usually means bud break or bloom rather than the month you noticed it.
- Fireblight on pear, apple and crabapple
- Anthracnose, leaf spot, scab and verticillium wilt
- Powdery mildew, including late-season rounds
- Cytospora canker on spruce and tip blight on pine
- Preventative spring fungicide programs

Fruit Tree Care
If you want fruit you can actually eat, most of the work happens months before there’s any fruit on the tree. Codling moth is beatable — just not in August.
- Codling moth in apples and pears
- Cherry fruit fly
- Coryneum blight, scab and fireblight
- Peachtree and cherry shot hole borer
- A full dormant-to-harvest spray calendar
Iron & Chlorosis Treatment
Yellow leaves with dark green veins are the tell. Utah’s alkaline soil locks iron up chemically, so the iron is usually there and the tree simply can’t reach it. Silver and red maple, red oak, river birch, tuliptree, sweetgum, flowering pear and flowering plum are the usual patients.
- Liquid soil drench, best applied in spring
- Trunk injection, effective for up to two years
- Manganese correction on red maple and its hybrids

Tree Fertilization & Soil Health
A tree in a lawn is competing with the grass for everything, and losing. Lawn fertilizer feeds the top few inches and stops there. We put a season’s worth of nutrition out across the whole root zone.
- Soil drench fertilizing, released over one season
- Macronutrient and micronutrient correction
- Mycorrhizae to improve nutrient uptake
- Timed to early spring or late fall, never late summer
Arborist Consulting
Sometimes what you need isn’t a treatment. It’s a certified arborist’s name on a piece of paper: a written assessment of a tree’s condition for a buyer, a lender, an HOA or a property manager.
- Written condition and health assessments
- Construction and root zone impact
- Condition reports for buyers, sellers and lenders
- Tree plans for HOAs and property managers

Start by naming the problem
Each treatment above answers a different problem, and the hard part is usually working out which problem you’ve got. The library is a photograph of every pest and disease we deal with around the valley, taken on real jobs: aphids on ash, fireblight on pear, bark beetle galleries under spruce bark. Name it, and the right treatment picks itself.
- Insect damage, from aphids and scale to borers
- Disease, from fireblight and canker to powdery mildew
- Look-alikes too, like herbicide damage on an unsprayed tree
